All Clear

a note from miss Erica after the all clear in Okinawa that the Typhoon moved on.....

" Some Typhoon, yeah right... Seen worse and I'm from the west. Earthquakes and Forest Fires son!
Water got nothing on us!!! Ahahahaha"

boy did I laugh at that

and yep a forest fire near home today, but they were on it quick, had it under control in 6 hours....

okay it is that season .. another Typhoon is expected for this next weekend, developing as we speak and heading towards Okinawa .. praying all is safe

The first Typhoon of the season hit just above Kadena, Okinawa and there was minor damage and some minor injuries, lots of power outages.
But for the most part all is well.

TYPHOON Kompasu was located 24.5 degrees north and 130.3 degrees east, which is 125 nautical miles southeast of Okinawa. it had winds gusting to 110 knots near its center and was moving towards the northwest at 10 knots. The joint typhoon warning center is forecasting typhoon Kompasu to be located 10 nautical miles northeast of Kadena by 31/1800L. ........at 4pm pacific time

I talked to miss Erica for a minute this morn ...really bad connection she had to call back three times . She did says they were in their barracks and ready for the storm, she wanted to let me know winds were about 50 miles an hour and the storm was headed straight for them but that they were ready. Everything tied down and such. They have Typhoons about every year, so ready for another ride. Pray everyone is safe.

According to some weather reports it should be hitting them right now, a category 3 Typhoon.

well finally heard something

I thought they were cool till they told me it would cost 20 cent extra to mail cause the toothpicks
only added extra postage to one .. so hopefully the rest made it ..as you can see on Erica's cork board her's made it, I also learn to mail cards overseas as long as its to a base it's the same cost as mailing a card in the US.
Erica's cork board the red folder is her Lance Corporal promotion :)
Erica and her flat 'kilroy' guy LOL okay so at least she finally was able to send it.
Erica's feet kickin it on the HUMVEE

Miss Devil Dog has been on a training OP on another base away from her barracks of course.
Finally a good word that she is well and tired, she had 14 hour guard duty yesterday,
she just wanted to hit the rack and get some shut eye, here's hoping that happened.

well back in June I signed her up for a fun thing, parents of military children made and mailed cards for 4th of July to anyone who signed their kids up. Well I did and I mailed 20 cards myself that I had made.. well Erica wrote me "what did you do? I got 25 cards from all over the US saying my kids are in whatever service" Well with one of those cards they get what they call a flat 'kilroy' (WWII thing) and they wanted a photo of them with the kilroy guy.. well it took forever but she finally took a pic with him even though she didn't want to.

I'll post a pic of the cards I made and of her with flat 'kilroy' and also her corkboard that has my card on it and her lance corporal promotion on it ....
( (I did receive a thank card from one guy for the card I sent, he said mine was the coolest by far, but I thought it was so awesome he actually wrote every person that sent a card and said thanks .. that was sweet) )
well more to come but it seams a lot will be after the fact some because I dont find out till after and the other reason is security ... so I won't tell what I don't think I can until I am told I can do so ... does that make sense LOL too funny almost
take care :) miss LCpl's mom
