Jacobs MOS Graduation at 29 Palms

I went to 29 Palms for Erica's friend Jacob's graduation.
Hoping to meet his parents, but alas they could not make,
so I took pics for them.
I was also able to see Erica and have a quick dinner
with her and I mean quick. It was the week of Thanksgiving.
The good thing about going out there, other than hanging around forever not knowing what I was doing thinking I might be lost or confused, LOL was that it made me to be able to know what to expect for Erica's would be much the same way..
although Erica's was much shorter :(
I really enjoyed it even the with the Long drive over 2 hours, but I took pics on the way, and got lots of pics of the base because I waited around so long and then afterwards went to Jacob's Companies picnic and had awesome mexican food.
Small world but a mom who lives just done the road from us and knew Erica had brought all the food. They were so nice and invited me to stay.
I even stopped in Joshua Tree at the gift shop and picked up some christmas gifs.

Where have I been...

You know how life is.. was so busing and my Marine had us running for a while. So I guess I'll back up to the last log in , if I can. Miss Erica was at her MOS school in 29 Palms.

I went to 2 graduations there. But more on that later. I will post some pictures I finally got from my Marine and some of her Marine friends and classmates. She's off on her new adventure and sad to say I dont get a whole lot from her, even though I keep asking, she is so different than me, I'm a picture'oholic lol. And journaling too and I've always done that, well at least on paper..

think most of those I need to burn, to much negative.. got to keep it positive. I know for my Erica she really has tried to keep it all positive, even when stuff has happened that wasn't so great for her she's tried to put a positive spin on it ... LOL thats funny my friend and his band just made a song called "Positive Spin". well it might take me a bit to catch up but I'll try...... to be con't

November 2nd 2009 miss Erica got her PFC Private First Class
and her orders .. mid December she'll graduate her MOS (schooling) then she will
get leave for Christmas but then its off to her Permanent Duty Station - PDS in Japan.
She is very excited and nervous too, so is mom :)
Oh the World she will see which is one reason she joined.
Thank you to all who have served and are serving our Country -
as today is veterans day!

Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School (MCCES) is the Marine Corps training ground for the majority of the communications and ground electronic maintenance Military Occupational Specialties (MOS).


To train Marines in ground electronics maintenance, tactical communications, and air control/anti-warfare operations and maintenance in order to ensure commanders at all levels within the Marine Corps have the ability to exercise command and control throughout the operational environment.
Tasks
Conduct formal, MOS qualification and sentiment training in Communication-Electronics Maintenance, Operational Communications, Air Control and Anti-Air Warfare Operations
Act as C4 Training and Education Center of Excellence in order to coordinate solutions to training requirements for the C4 occupational ields.
Participate in technical and logistical evaluations of new communications, electronic maintenance, Air Control and Anti-Air Warfare systems in order to develop formal training to support the fielding of these systems throughout the Marine Corps.


MCCES began as the Pigeon and Flag Handler Platoon in 1932. On 5 October 1942, it was activated as the Signal School under the Signal Battalion in Quantico, VA. In 1943 they moved to Camp Lejeune, NC; remained there until the end of WWII and eventually offered 15 courses in the communications field. In August 1946, the school was relocated to Camp Del Mar on Camp Pendleton, CA. In December 1949, Signal School was re-designated as Signal and Tracked Vehicle School Battalion. In 1950, coinciding with the Korean Conflict, the school was moved to MCRD San Diego, CA and was renamed to Signal School Battalion in September. During this time, the school added technician and repairmen training. In 1953, the school was re designated to Communications-Electronics School Battalion.

Modern Day
In 1963, the school began to move to Marine Corps Base, Twentynine Palms, CA with the move of C and E Companies. In February of 1971 the school was redesignated as to it current title of Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School and A and D Companies moved to Twentynine Palms at this time. Also during this time an Officer Training course was developed for Air Defense Officer and the school trained over 5000 Marines Annually. In 1975, B Company moved from Camp Pendleton, completing the move of the school and establishing the largest formal school in the Marine Corps. In 2003 D Company merged into B Company. In 2006 the MOS redesignation of Data Systems Marines from the 40 occupational field into the 06 occupational field was completed.

so sorry its been so long

Erica's Unit
I have been so busy and then a few times I tried to get on, it kept saying wrong password then a few other times just an error page came up... then for some reason it worked today.

Miss Erica is busy busy!! PT, Chow then school all day and basketball practice at night.

Yep she's on the 29 Palms Women's basketball team. She is also in the progress of getting (or got) her grey belt I think she said ??

She still does not know where she'll be sent to next, her friend Jacob who is from Washington is being sent to Cherry Point North Carolina. But he is a different MOS even though he is communications.

Erica has many new friends there, but you would be surprised how boisterous she is and forward. She seams to not take any crud from no one. She has changed a lot. I am proud of her but I do remind her that we are not use to her being that way. What can you do, she is her own person. I did what I could under the circumstances.

She called yesterday telling me her class wants shirts and they need prices. There is 39 of them, only 5 girls. (thats the only time I get a call is when she wants something.. told her it would be nice to get a hello how you doing phone call) But I understand she has full busy days, and this whole last week she was sick on top of it all.

Her brother and I are busy ourselves working, taking care of a house, well trying

and my truck died so trying take care of all that as well.

It is all too much for one person. My kids are awesome... not perfect but awesome.

I can't complain thats for sure my daughter in the Marines and my son a Cook and loves his work. Guess I am saying this cause a boy up the street only 17 was found murdered in the desert, drug deal they think. I didn't really know the boy although I'd seen him around and he had gone to school with Erica. Very sad and I feel for his mom.

Okay enough sadness, they say Bryce should be home mid December from Afghanistan if all goes as planned. Kim is so happy about that. My parents are in their new home and trying to decorate and arrange, it is coming along nicely, although Bryan is there a lot when he can, helping move things and yard stuff. A lot of work but worth it having a nice home. :)
